Friday I had my final nutrition appointment and weigh-in before everything is submitted to insurance. Since my last appointment I have lost 8 pounds, which the nutritionist was very pleased about. I hadn’t been as good on the pre-op diet as I wanted, simply because the local grocery doesn’t carry the right protein drinks (or enough of the one they do have), and amazon.com was very late on an order. But once everything came I stuck to it pretty hardcore at least for the last week or so.
I’m going to try to stick to my pre-op diet as much as I can to continue the weight-loss and liver shrinkage before surgery. I won’t hear back from my insurance for about 2 weeks, and then I think they schedule the date.
Once I have a surgery date I can schedule my pre-op appointments, which include:
- IVC Filter surgery
- Bloodwork
- Urinalysis
- Final appointment with surgeon
And that -may- be it. I’m reading two very useful and well-written blogs by two women who went through bariatric surgery and have becoming famous for creating good healthy recipes resembling everyday food. I’ve been taking notes and am starting to pick up bits and pieces of the ingredients so I can start making these -now- and get used to them.
The first blog is by a woman here in Maryland called “Bariatric Foodie“. The second one is by far my favorite, and called “The World According to Eggface“. The Eggface one really provides a lot of resources, discounts, and reflections on living as a bariatric. I’ve been working on importing a lot of these recipes into a document I can print out and keep at home. Hopefully I will learn how to make these types of adjustments on my own with recipes.
